Richard M. Daviduke
Richard Daviduke started his convenience store experience
at Southland Corporation while attending Pennsylvania Military College.
Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and served
as a platoon leader in the United States Army. After being
honorably discharged, he was placed in Southland’s Career Development
Program and later graduated from Northwestern University’s Executive
Development Program. Over the next twenty years, Richard was promoted
to operations, marketing, and development positions. His years
of service and experience were rewarded with a promotion to the
position of Division Manager for the Southern division, which had
more than five hundred company-operated stores. This appointment
came when he was thirty-one years old, making him the youngest Division
Manager in Southland’s history. The 1990’s saw an industry in turmoil,
and Richard was offered an equity position at Miller Enterprises,
a family and employee owned company operating convenience stores,
supermarkets, and a fuel distribution business. Richard conceptualized
and implemented the Handy Way strategic five-year business plan
and then the strategic growth plan. In 1999 all assets were
sold to the Pantry, Inc., for cash, and the senior management TEAM
members began their retirement plans. Richard is the senior advisor
for Miller Management and Consulting Services, Inc., and continues
to play an active role as a partner in Omni Real Estate Group with
its real estate brokerage and development department.
